A Level Physics Tutor Australia Online: A Guide for British Curriculum Students

Apr 20, 2026

Expert A Level Physics online tuition for students across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide & the wider Australia — delivered live by examination specialists with over twenty years of outstanding results

A Level Physics is the most demanding science qualification within the British curriculum & for students in international schools across Australia, it is often the subject that most directly determines access to Engineering, Aerospace, Physics, Astrophysics & Medical Physics programs at leading universities both in Australia & internationally. From Sydney's North Shore & inner-city international schools to Melbourne's eastern suburbs campuses, Perth's riverside schools & Brisbane's expanding international education sector, Australian A Level Physics students sit examinations that are marked to exactly the same standard as students in the UK & face the same challenge: a subject that integrates mathematical rigour, conceptual complexity & precise scientific expression in a way that tests even high-achieving students.

At Dr Anil Khare powered by Amourion, we have provided specialist A Level Physics tuition for over two decades. We have no physical center in Australia & so all sessions are delivered fully online, live & interactive, using shared digital whiteboards that replicate in-person teaching. Australian parents working with us receive the same level of examination expertise as students in Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Doha.

Why A Level Physics demands more than classroom teaching alone

Dr Anil Khare: A Level Physics is the only A Level that requires genuine fluency across the three distinct disciplines simultaneously which are mathematical calculation, conceptual physical reasoning & precise scientific communication. A student may be well versed with the formula for gravitational field strength but will still lose marks if the student cannot explain why the field differs as distance changes or not showing the working that connects the formula to the values in the question. Examiners allocate marks to each of these components separately, meaning a student who is strong in two but weaker in one will consistently underperform relative to their true level of understanding.

The practical component introduces an additional layer of challenge. Both Edexcel & Cambridge assess practical skills either directly through written papers or via a practical endorsement & the ability to design experiments, identify sources of error & evaluate data with scientific accuracy is distinct from theoretical knowledge. These skills must be developed through targeted practice rather than relying on classroom exposure alone.

A Level Physics syllabuses we cover

Edexcel A Level Physics (9PH0)

  • Mechanics: kinematics, Newton's laws, momentum, energy & circular motion
  • Electric & magnetic fields: Coulomb's law, capacitors, electromagnetic induction
  • Waves & particle physics: superposition, quantum behaviour, nuclear physics & radiation
  • Paper 1, Paper 2 & Paper 3 (practical skills) strategy, calculation technique & mark-scheme precision

Cambridge A Level Physics (9702)

  • AS Level: kinematics, forces, work & energy, waves, electricity & nuclear physics
  • A Level: Circular motion, gravitational fields, ideal gases, thermodynamics, quantum physics & cosmology
  • Paper 3 & Paper 5: advanced practical planning, data analysis & uncertainty evaluation
  • Past paper drilling & mark-scheme familiarisation across all components

How we deliver our online sessions

  • One-to-one private tuition
  • Small focused group sessions
  • Intensive pre-examination programs
  • Exam crash courses

Dr Anil Khare powered by Amourion has no physical center in Australia. All sessions are delivered online via live, interactive shared digital whiteboards. Students across every state & territory are supported at the same standard as in-person tuition, with written progress reports & direct access to the tutoring team.

How we keep parents informed

  • Written progress reports every four sessions, broken down by topic, paper & question type
  • Mock exam analysis with precise feedback identifying exactly where & why marks are being lost
  • Examination countdown plans tailored to the student's specific paper dates & available revision time
  • Direct, timely communication with parents with clear updates, authentic assessments & no vague reassurances

We act as a long-term academic partner throughout the full A Level course & not only in the weeks immediately before examinations.

Questions Australian A Level Physics families ask us

My child is strong in A Level Maths but finding Physics unexpectedly difficult. Why do the two subjects feel so different in the exam?

Dr Anil Khare: Because they assess different competencies even when the mathematics involved is the same. In A Level Mathematics, a question typically indicates the method to apply & in what order. In A Level Physics, the student must first interpret the physical situation, select the correct law or principle, formulate the equation in a way that reflects the context, calculate & then interpret the result using physical terms. A student who goes straight to calculations without establishing the physical reasoning first most likely lose marks not because the calculation is wrong but because marks are given to each stage of the physical argument, not only to the final answer. We train students to approach physics questions as representations of physical processes first & mathematical problems second, which is a shift in perspective that enables access to the higher mark bands.

My child struggles most with electricity and fields. These topics feel completely abstract. How do you make them click?

Dr Anil Khare: By making the invisible visible. Electricity & fields are challenging because students cannot see the phenomena the way they can observe a ball thrown in the air or a wave on water. What brings clarity is a combination of two things: first, we develop precise conceptual models of what is physically happening & we work through every situation with diagrams, field line representations & step-by-step explanations before introducing equations; second, we expose students to a wide range of past paper questions so that the student begins to recognize recurring patterns rather than treating each problem as entirely new. Electricity and fields are topics where examiners draw on a relatively small repertoire of scenarios. Students who work systematically through these patterns move from seeing the topic as abstract to recognizing it as structured & predictable.

The practical skills paper is something my child's school does not prepare well for. Can you address that specifically?

Dr Anil Khare: Yes & it is one of the most high-impact areas of preparation we provide. The practical paper which is Paper 3 for Edexcel or Papers 3 & 5 for Cambridge assesses a specific set of skills that are distinct from content knowledge: identifying independent, dependent & control variables, selecting appropriate measuring instruments, evaluating sources of error & uncertainty, constructing graphs with correct treatment of intercepts & gradients & writing conclusions that are directly supported by the data rather than general theory. These skills can be developed effectively through structured written practice without the need for a physical laboratory & we use past practical papers systematically to build them. Many students begin with this paper as their weakest component & with targeted preparation, come to treat it as one of their consistent sources of marks.

A Level Physics is not a common subject at Australian international schools. Are there enough past papers and resources to prepare thoroughly?

Dr Anil Khare: The resource base is extensive & has grown considerably over the past ten years. Both Edexcel & Cambridge provide complete sets of past papers with accompanying mark schemes for every examination series, offering more than enough material for comprehensive preparation. The key advantage of working with a specialist tutor is knowing which papers to prioritize, how question styles have evolved over time & which topics appear most frequently & carry the greatest weighting. Attempting papers randomly is far less effective than following a structured sequence aligned to the student's specific areas of weakness. We build that structure into every program, ensuring that past paper practice is targeted & strategic from the first session rather than left as a final-stage revision exercise.
