Expert A Level Mathematics online tuition for students across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide & the wider Australia — delivered live by examination specialists with over twenty years of outstanding results
A Level Mathematics is one of the most widely recognised pre-university qualifications globally & Australia has a significant community of students who sit it each year. International schools from Sydney’s North Shore to Melbourne’s eastern suburbs & Perth’s riverside schools deliver the British curriculum & for these students, A Level Mathematics holds the same academic weight as it does in the UK. It plays a decisive role in university entry for Engineering, Economics, Computer Science & the physical sciences both within Australia & internationally. It’s cumulative nature also means that any gap left unresolved in Year 12 become progressively more problematic throughout Year 13.
At Dr Anil Khare powered by Amourion, we have provided specialist A Level Mathematics tuition for over two decades. We do not operate a physical center in Australia & all sessions are delivered entirely online, live & interactive, using shared digital whiteboards that replicate the quality of in-person teaching. Australian families working with us receive the same level of examination expertise as students in Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Doha.
Why A Level Mathematics demands more than classroom teaching alone
Dr Anil Khare: A Level Mathematics is not simply a continuation of GCSE or IGCSE but it is a significant change in abstraction, pace & expectation. Some topics arrive in Year 12 & for other topics they build directly on the ones before it. A student who begins Year 12 with an unresolved weakness in algebraic manipulation will see those areas amplified across subsequent topics, as new material consistently assumes mastery of earlier concepts.
The mark scheme reinforces this challenge. A Level examiner reward clear, fully structured working & logical progression & not just correct final answers. Students who arrive at the correct result through unclear or poorly organized steps lose method marks that cannot be regained through subject knowledge alone. Developing the discipline of presenting mathematics in the exact form an A Level examiner expects is a skill that can be taught & it is central to every session we deliver.
A Level Mathematics syllabus we cover
Edexcel A Level Mathematics (9MA0)
- Pure Mathematics 1 & 2: proof, algebra, functions, coordinate geometry, sequences, trigonometry, exponentials, logarithms, differentiation & integration
- Statistics: data presentation, probability, statistical distributions & hypothesis testing
- Mechanics: kinematics, forces, Newton’s laws & moments
- Paper 1, Paper 2 & Paper 3 strategy, time management & mark-scheme precision
Cambridge A Level Mathematics (9709)
- Pure Mathematics 1 & 2: full AS & A2 topic coverage
- Probability & Statistics 1 & 2; Mechanics 1 & 2
- Past paper drilling & examination technique across all components
- Further Mathematics support available alongside the standard A Level
How we deliver our online sessions
- One-to-one private tuition — fully tailored to the student’s syllabus, stage of the course & specific topics where marks are being lost
- Small focused group sessions — for students at comparable levels working through A Level problems & mark-scheme technique togethe r
- Intensive pre-examination programs — structured, high-yield preparation in the critical weeks before exams
- Exam crash courses — targeted, focused sessions for students with limited time before their final exams.
Dr Anil Khare powered by Amourion has no physical center in Australia. All sessions are conducted online via live, interactive shared digital whiteboards. Students across every state & territory are supported at the same standard as in-person tuition, with written progress reports & direct access to the tutoring team.
How we keep parents informed
- Written progress reports every four sessions, broken down by topic, paper & question type
- Mock exam analysis with precise feedback identifying exactly where & why marks are being lost
- Examination countdown plans tailored to the student’s specific paper dates & available revision time
- Direct, timely communication with parents — clear updates, genuine assessments & no vague reassurances
We act as a long-term academic partner throughout the full A Level course — not only in the weeks immediately before examinations.
Questions Australian A Level families ask us
Australia has its own university entrance pathways. Does A Level Maths actually carry weight with Australian universities?
Dr Anil Khare: Directly & substantially. Australian universities accept A Level results for direct entry & convert them into an ATAR equivalent for domestic admissions. A strong A Level mathematics result typically a B or higher translates to a high ATAR score & satisfies the entry requirements for demanding programs in engineering, science & commerce programs at universities such as the University of Melbourne, UNSW, Queensland, UWA as well as Russell Group institutions for students applying in the UK. The qualification is recognized in both systems, making it a highly effective path for Australian students with international academic ambitions.
My child is at an international school in Australia doing A Levels but their school has limited specialist Maths support. Is that common?
Dr Anil Khare: More common than most families appreciate & it is the single most frequent reason Australian families approach us. International schools in Australia vary considerably in the depth of A Level Mathematics provision they can offer. A school may deliver a strong overall curriculum yet lack a teacher with specific Edexcel or Cambridge A Level Mathematics examination expertise, detailed familiarity with past paper patterns or the capacity to train students individually in the mark-scheme techniques that distinguish a C from an A. This is not a criticism of the school but it is a matter of scale & specialization. Online specialist tuition addresses this gap directly, providing students with access to A Level Mathematics expertise that may not be available within their school.
My child is taking A Level Maths alongside the Australian curriculum. How do you manage the scheduling and workload?
Dr Anil Khare: Practically & with careful consideration of the student’s overall workload in mind. Students at Australian international schools taking A Levels are often managing a demanding academic schedule & so we design session plans that complement rather than compete with their school commitments. For most A Level Mathematics students one session of ninety minutes per week is the standard baseline, with an increase to two sessions per week as examinations approach. We are genuine about what is achievable within a student’s available study time, prioritizing the topics & question types that carry the greatest weighting rather than attempting to cover everything at equal depth.
What is the most common mistake Australian A Level Maths students make going into their exams?
Dr Anil Khare: This is the most consistent pattern we observe among A Level Mathematics students globally, including Australia where students misjudge the components of statistics & mechanics in favor of pure. Pure Mathematics is more accessible because it builds on familiar procedural skills developed throughout secondary school. By contrast statistics & mechanics require interpretation: the question presents a real-world context & the student must identify the correct statistical method or mechanical model before carrying out any calculation. Students who have not practiced this translation step explicitly tend to lose marks on applied papers unnecessarily. We address this directly in every program, as it is one of the most common areas where grade boundaries are won or lost.
