A Level Chemistry Tutor in Sharjah: Your Essential Questions Answered

July 09, 2026

Sharjah is a city that has always been known for its education, culture, and academic excellence. The emirate has excellent universities, and is home to many international schools, which offer students excellent opportunities to study at both local and foreign universities. Among the most respected pre-university qualifications is Cambridge and Edexcel A Level Chemistry, a subject that opens doors to medicine, pharmacy, engineering, dentistry and much more. A Level Chemistry is an intellectually challenging course but requires accuracy, logical thinking and regular practice.

To help students and parents better understand the subject, we spoke with Dr Anil Khare at Amourion Training Institute, who has helped numerous students excel in A Level Chemistry.

What makes A Level Chemistry more challenging than IGCSE Chemistry?

Dr Anil Khare: The biggest difference is the depth of understanding required. At IGCSE, students learn many fundamental concepts, but A Level explores the science behind them in much greater detail. Students should explain chemical behaviour, predict reactions, analyse new situations and apply multiple concepts within a single question. It becomes much less about remembering facts and much more about scientific reasoning.

Organic Chemistry appears to be too difficult. What can students do to make it easier?

Dr Anil Khare: Organic Chemistry often appears intimidating because students see dozens of reactions and compounds. The key is to identify patterns and not to memorise each reaction separately. Once students understand functional groups and reaction mechanisms, they begin to see Chemistry as a connected system instead of isolated topics. This will then reduce the amount of memorisation required.

Why do many students lose marks even when they know the correct answer?

Dr Anil Khare: Examination technique is often the deciding factor. A Level mark schemes often reward students for exact scientific vocabulary, logical working and well organised explanations. In some cases, students can grasp the concept very clearly but fail to communicate it in the manner required by the examiners. A lot of time is devoted to developing answer writing skills as well as subject knowledge.

How should students approach calculations in A Level Chemistry?

Dr Anil Khare: Chemical calculations should be approached methodically. When working on equilibrium questions, pH calculations, energetics or kinetics questions, students should have a consistent step-by-step approach. Writing every stage clearly reduces errors and earns valuable method marks. By practicing regularly, calculations can be one of the most reliable areas of the exam where students can score more marks.

Is practical knowledge important if the examination is written?

Dr Anil Khare: Yes, indeed. Practical Chemistry fosters scientific thinking. Students must be taught laboratory skills, experimental design, observations, uncertainties, and data interpretation. Even when practical work is assessed through written papers, examiners expect students to understand why experiments are performed and how conclusions are drawn from the results.

When should students begin revision for A Level Chemistry?

Dr Anil Khare: Revision should begin long before the final examination period. Students are encouraged to look at each topic straight after they have finished it and then do regular mixed topic practice. A Level Chemistry revision in Sharjah is a mix of conceptual review, calculation practice and lots of past paper questions. Students who revise regularly have much less stress and also perform more confidently.
