Expert A Level Chemistry online tuition for students across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide & the wider Australia — delivered live by examination specialists with over twenty years of outstanding results

A Level Chemistry is the gateway qualification for Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering & Biochemistry at universities across Australia & internationally. For students in British curriculum international schools from Sydney's North Shore to Melbourne's eastern suburbs, Brisbane's southside & Perth's riverside campuses it is also one of the most content-heavy & technically demanding A Levels available. The combination of Physical Chemistry's mathematical precision, organic chemistry's interconnected reaction mechanisms & inorganic chemistry's structured factual content creates a workload that often challenges even high performing students who are confident at IGCSE or GCSE level.

At Dr Anil Khare powered by Amourion, we have provided specialist A Level Chemistry tuition for over two decades. We do not operate a physical center in Australia & so all sessions are conducted live, interactive & delivered fully online via shared digital whiteboards that replicate the quality of in-person teaching. Australian students & parents working with us receive the same level of examination expertise as students in Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Doha.

Why A Level Chemistry requires more than classroom teaching alone

Dr Anil Khare: A Level Chemistry is different among the other science subjects in that it requires three fundamentally different modes of thinking within a single qualification. Physical chemistry requires mathematical accuracy in equilibrium constants, pH calculations, Hess's law cycles & electrochemical cell potentials all require careful, sequential quantitative reasoning. Organic Chemistry requires spatial & mechanistic thinking & understanding why electrons move in a particular direction & predicting resulting product. Inorganic Chemistry demands on systematic, precise recall of properties, trends & reactions across the periodic table. A student who is stronger in one area & weaker in another will be exposed by examinations that integrate all three across every paper.

The mark scheme reinforces a level of precision in written answers that often costs even well-prepared students marks they assume they have secured. A statement such as 'The rate increases because it is hotter' gains no credit whereas 'increasing temperature increases the proportion of particles with kinetic energy greater than or equal to the activation energy, thereby increasing the frequency of successful collisions' meets the mark scheme standard. This level of precision is a trainable skill & it sits at the core of every session we deliver.

Questions Australian 'A' Level chemistry parents ask us

My child is aiming for Medicine or Dentistry in Australia. How critical is their A Level Chemistry grade to that pathway?

Dr Anil Khare: It is fundamental & often decisive. Undergraduate medicine & dentistry programs at Australian universities including Monash, the University of Queensland, University of Adelaide, Flinders & Western Sydney require strong science A Level results alongside performance in the UCAT or GAMSAT, depending on the entry route. For graduate-entry medicine via an undergraduate science degree, A Level Chemistry establishes the academic foundation that influences both the program a student enters & the GPA they carry forward into medical school applications. For direct entry programs at institutions that accept international A Level results, an A or A* in Chemistry is typically a formal requirement rather than a preference. A student who underperforms in A Level Chemistry due to avoidable preparation gaps risks limiting their options before those opportunities are fully available.

Organic Chemistry mechanisms are where my child loses the most marks. Is there a structured way to learn them that actually sticks?

Dr Anil Khare: Yes, we do offer a structured way which is the opposite of memorization. Students who try to memorize organic mechanisms as fixed sequences often find that question that are unfamiliar tend to disturb their understanding, because their recall is pattern-based rather than principle-driven. The approach that endures is mechanistic & these core principles underpin every organic mechanism in the A Level syllabus. Once a student internalizes them, they can reconstruct any mechanism logically rather than relying on memorization. We structure every organic mechanisms session around this framework, moving from principle to application rather than from memorization to repetition. Students who initially struggle with organic chemistry frequently come to regard it as one of their strongest areas.

My child's school in Australia covers the A Level Chemistry content but not the examination technique. What specifically are they missing?

Dr Anil Khare: Four things, consistently. First, command word accuracy: A Level Chemistry examiners use 'state', 'explain', 'describe' & 'deduce' to indicate exactly what level of response is required & students who fail to distinguish between them often give the wrong type of answer regardless of their understanding. Second, the mark-scheme terminology: answers must use precise chemical terminology in the exact form the mark scheme expects & paraphrasing a correct idea in less accurate terms typically gains no credit. Third, calculation presentation: Physical Chemistry calculations must show every step, every unit & intermediate result to secure all method marks. Fourth, practical question conventions: graph plotting, treatment of uncertainty & conclusion-writing in practical papers follow defined conventions that are not always covered thoroughly in school. We address all four systematically from the first session.

Can A Level Chemistry tuition be genuinely effective when conducted entirely online and without a laboratory?

Dr Anil Khare: For the written examination components which account for the vast majority of the final grade, online tuition is entirely effective. The practical papers for both Edexcel & Cambridge are assessed in written form: they evaluate a student's ability to design experiments, identify variables, process data & analyze results through structured responses & not through physical practical work. These skills can be developed through systematic practice using past practical papers, which is exactly how we work with Australian students. Our shared digital whiteboard enables us to illustrate reaction mechanisms, construct energy profile diagrams, annotate spectra & work through organic synthesis routes together in real time with the same level as on paper in a face-to-face setting. The medium does not restrict how chemistry is taught but it simply changes where.
